Waiting and Waiting and Waiting....Masters of the Waiting Game

So how many days do you feel like you are waiting for something?...and I don't mean waiting tables!

Maybe it is the subway, maybe it is the kids to get up and go to school, maybe it is for the special someone to enter your life, or maybe it is the one thing in your career to happen so everything will just take off.

Now I ask, how does the waiting make you feel?

I have been told that I am an extremely patient person and I think teaching preschool for a period of time definitely helped with that.  However, for me the waiting never seems to get easier....Wait, what?!! Yes I said it.  The waiting sucks especially in this business, and I am not a fan of it.  It makes me second guess a lot of my work and not feel like my actual goals are going to happen.  Questions and ideas consume my thoughts like, "Well maybe I did not book it?.....Maybe they really were just being nice? Maybe someone else came along and booked the role?'

Right now I am waiting.....waiting on a certain official offer....I know it is coming but it is not official.  And it is driving me nuts! However, I have to remind myself that this is also a business of waiting.  Waiting to audition for that casting intern at an EPA, waiting to audition for that indie film producer and director, waiting on set until I am called, waiting in the wings to make that award winning entrance, waiting for my shift at the day job to be over and waiting for the next job offer to come along once I completed a project.  So the waiting will always continue. (SLAMS HEAD UP AGAINST  DESK)

However, I challenge you! Yes, there is always a challenge to get to that pot of gold.

What you do with yourself can help define you as a person and an artist.....how you define it is the fun part for you!

Therefore, while we as people and artists continuously wait, pick a new book you wouldn't normally read, learn a new skill that you have been putting off, say hi to someone new (it might be that special someone),   or call that friend who always asks when you are going to be on Broadway because you haven't talked in months! Just do it and maybe....just maybe the WAIT will all be WORTH IT....because you are worth it!

Cheers in this wintry mix
